Abstract

ABSTRACT Legal Review of Gallon Water Sale and Purchase According to Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection provides explanations and education for business actors in terms of maintaining health, cleanliness and safety in goods distributed or sold by business actors, because goods sold by business actors that are not kept clean can cause health problems for consumers. In this study there are several formulations of legal problems, namely as follows: First, how is the legal protection for consumers whose rights are violated by business actors of refill drinking water depots in terms of Law no. 8 of 1999. Second, what is the responsibility of refilling water depot business actors in implementing refill drinking water quality standards. In this study, the author uses empirical sociological research, (Observational Research) by going directly to the field to get some data. The data and data sources that the author uses are secondary data, while the data collection techniques that the author uses are observation, interviews and documentation. While the method of drawing conclusions that the author uses in this study is the deductive method, namely drawing conclusions from things that are general to specific. From the results of research and discussion that the authors found are as follows: First, against legal protection for consumers whose rights are violated by business actors of refill drinking water depots in terms of Law Number 8 of 1999, consumers who are harmed can sue business actors through institutions in charge of resolving disputes between consumers and business actors through courts or out of court. Second, business actors are responsible for providing compensation for damage, pollution, and or consumer losses due to consuming goods and or services produced or traded.
