Abstract

ABSTRACT Marriage satisfaction is a condition where the basic needs in marriage is fulfilled, which consists of various aspects namely communication, personality traits, togetherness, commitment, problems solving ability, relationships with in-laws, agreements, and expressions of love. The purpose of this study is to find out the description of marriage satisfaction in the Toba Batak tribe who marry with other tribes (take up clans). The informant of this study consists of 3 people, who were married to the Batak Toba tribe, who made the clan appointment in marriage. The three informants come from the sub-district of Lubuk Dalam. The first 29-year-old informant takes the Boru Simanjuntak clan, the second 48-year-old informant takes the sianipar clan and the 37-year-old third informant has taken the Boru clan Manalu. This study uses a qualitative method with qualitative descriptive approach. The result of this study indicates that the two informants in the study experienced dissatisfaction in the marriages due to the tradition and daily incompatibilities communication, but the male informants feel quite satisfied with the marriage being carried out.
