Abstract

This research was motivated by lack of students’ class VIII active learning at Junior High School 1 PangkalanKerinci. The purpose in this research examined to know was there any influence of problem based learning on students’ class VIII active learning in Islamic education lesson at Junior High School 1 PangkalanKerinci. This research used quantitative with correlational research. The population in this research was 202 Islamic students in class VIII and the sampling was 135 students. Data collection technique used questionnaire and documentation. Research finding showed that the hypothesis about there was any influence of problem based learning on students’ active learning accepted with significant score 0.000. The level of teacher’s usage in implementing problem based learning model in 0.8756 or 87.56%. The interpretation score was in interval 0.80-1.00 with very high level. Result from problem based learning level (variable X) in 87.56% was in very high level. Also, students’ active learning level (variable Y) in 0.8494 or 84.94%.The score was in interpretation in interval 0.80-1.00 with very high level. Then, result from students’ active learning (variable Y) level in 84.94% in very high. The influence of problem based learning model on students’ active learning was in strong enough (0.443 or 44.3%) and it was in range (0.40-0.599), meanwhile others 55.7% was influenced by others factors. The relationship between problem based learning model and students’ active learning in 0.665 or 66.5% that was predicted when problem based learning model was improved, it made very effective to improve students’ active learning in 0.665 or 66.5%. Vice versa, when problem based learning model decreased and students’ active learning would be decreased in 0.665 or 66.5%. It caused by the relationship between problem based learning and students’ active learning in range 0.60-0.799 in strong category.
