Abstract

Gomorphology can be defined as the science of the makeup of the earth and the aspects that influence it. The research area is located in the Padang Ganting area, Padang Ganting District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. This research was conducted to determine the development of geomorphology, geological processes that affect geomorphology, and the potential in the area. The research method uses geological analysis (petrography), geomorphological analysis, and geological potential in the study area. The results of this study are in the form of geomorphological data, namely there are two flow patterns, namely dendritic and trellis flow patterns, structurally steep hills geomorphological units, structurally steep hills geomorphological units and fluvial sloping hills geomorphological units. There are three lithological units, namely Triassic-carbon granite units deposited in volcanic environments, early Miocene conglomerate units deposited in terrestrial environments and middle Miocene sandstone units deposited in shallow marine environments. The structure is in the form of a tundra fold, and joints trending northwest-southeast. The potential contained in the research area is class C minerals which are used for the livelihoods of the surrounding community.
