Abstract

The background of this research is to find out the juridical review of underage marriages based on Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage in Pangean District. As for Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage, the minimum age limit for a person to be married is 19 years for men and 16 years for women. In this research, there are several formulations of legal problems, namely as follows. First, what are the factors for the occurrence of underage marriage in Pangean District, Kuantan Singingi Regency? Second, what is the impact of underage marriage in Pangean District, Kuantan Singingi Regency? In this research, the writer uses empirical sociological research, (Observational Research) that is by going into the field to get some data. The data and data sources that the authors use are secondary data, while the data collection techniques that the authors use are observasion, interviews and documentation. While the method of drawing conclusions that the authors uses in this study is the deductive method, namely drawing conclusions from things that are general to specific. From the results of the research, the causes of the causes of underage marriages are as follows: First, to the factors of the occurrence of underage marriages in Pangean District because there are several factors which include: the education factor, the child's willingness factor, the economic factor, the will of the people. old age, and religious factors. The most dominant factor is education. Second, on the impact of underage marriage in Pangean District, there are several negative impacts which include: loss of educational opportunities, domestic violence, miscarriage and divorce. The most dominant impact is the occurrence of domestic violence and divorce.
