Abstract

Cementing is an important factor in oil and gas drilling operations, but failures in the cementing process can still occur due to the composition of additives in cement not suitable for the well so it can cause the casing to collapse from the formation wall which will interfere with the drilling process. Good cement used in cementing can be observe trough several parameters such as thickening time, shear bond strength and compressive strength that suits the needs of the well, some additives can be used to improve parameters that aren’t suitable by using additives such as accelerators, namely calcium chlorida, gypsum, and silica, however there are other materials that can be used for alternatives, in this study will be used trass in cement slurry to improve the above parameters through laboratory analysis, the test was carried out with the addition of trass and Na2SiO3 as industrial accelerator with concentration variations of 0%, 0.2%, 0.6%, 1%, 1.4%, 1.8%. From the test results of the addition of trass, the best value was obtained at 1.8% concentration with a thickening time of 158 minutes, then compressive strength at 4737.39 psi and shear bond strength at 1095.223 psi. As for the addition of Na2SiO3, the best thickening time value was obtained at a concentration of 1.8% with a time of 122 minutes, then for compressive strength and shear bond strength the best value was obtained at 1% concentration where compressive strength at 2989.545 psi and shear bond strength at 678.373 psi.
