Abstract

Students in studying have great learning demands that cause academic stress. Several factors also influence the increase in academic stress including Islamic positive religious coping used by students. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between Islamic positive religious coping and student academic stress. The sample in the study amounted to 400 students of Riau Islamic University which was determined using cluster sampling technique. The data collection method is using an academic stress scale consisting of 24 aitems and a psychological measure of islamic religiousness (PMIR) scale consisting of 7 aitems. The results of this study showed that Spearman's Rho statistical analysis test showed that there was a significant negative relationship between Islamic positive religious coping and student academic stress with a value of r -0.242 and a significant value of 0.000 (p<0.05). This means that the higher the islamic positive religious coping, the lower the level of academic stress of students.
