Abstract
This study aims to describe the use of the Pekanbaru Tribune printed mass media as the main information medium for the Pekanbaru community. This study uses qualitative methods with qualitative research. The sample in this study was the staff of the Pekanbaru Tribune, two people and the readers of the Pekanbaru Tribune, 3 people. The data of this research is the data source in the form of primary data, direct observation in the form of data collection by conducting interviews with informants. Primary data is a source of data obtained directly from observations, interviews, and documentation conducted by researchers to informants. Qualitative data analysis used Data Reduction, Data Display, and Conclusion Drawing/Verification. Based on the results of research and discussion on the use of printed mass media as the main information media for the Pekanbaru community (Study on the Pekanbaru Tribune Print Media) it is known that the cognitive indicators show that the news discovery process is also considered necessary in terms of using the Pekanbaru tribune as an information medium for the Pekanbaru city community. In the indicator of diversion (diversion) of the Pekanbaru tribune, based on the observations of the researcher, it not only presents news about politics, crime or things that are hot in the community but also presents light news that is entertainment. On the indicators of social utility, it is known that in upholding the truth in a news story, the Pekanbaru Tribune confirms each of the relevant sources and presents the news as it is in the field. While the supporting factors are known in terms of strengthening the news, presenting the latest news, and having many news categories.
