Abstract

Theft in general can be explained as an act of moving the property of another person without the knowledge of the owner with the aim of unlawfully possessing it. Theft is described in Article 362 of the Criminal Code. Theft often occurs in the community, such as what happened on the campus of the Islamic University of Riau which was established on September 4, 1962. With the increase in theft cases, in 2017 the Islamic University of Riau used electronic gates to reduce the number of cases of theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles, but the fact that happened In the field, there are still several obstacles in the application of electronic gate pass which makes the authors interested and conduct research with the title of electronic gate pass (e-gate) function in overcoming the crime of theft of two- wheeled motorized vehicles in the Riau Islamic University campus environment. The main problem in this study is how the electronic gate pass functions in overcoming the theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles in the Riau Islamic University campus environment, what are the obstacles that occur in the use of electronic gates in preventing theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles in the Riau Islamic University campus environment. This research method is an observational research study by means of a survey, namely conducting research directly to the research location using data collection tools in the form of interviews. Meanwhile, when viewed from its nature, this research is descriptive, which means that it describes the reality that is examined about the function of the electronic gate pass in the prevention of theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles in the Riau Islamic University campus environment and the obstacles that occur in the use of electronic gates in the prevention of wheeled motorized vehicle theft. two in the Riau Islamic University campus.
