Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the interaction effect as well as the main effect of Tangkos Palm Compost and NPK 16:16:16 Fertilizer on melon crop production. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution, KM 11 No. 113, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The research took place for 4 months starting from June to September 2021. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of 2 factors, namely the first factor of palm tangkos compost (K) consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely 0.1 kg/plot, 2 kg/plot, 3 kg/plot. The second factor was NPK 16:16:16 (N) consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely 0.5 g/plant, 10 g/plant and 15 g/plant. Parameters observed were flowering age, percentage of flowers turning into fruit, harvesting age, fruit diameter, fruit weight per plant, and level of sweetness. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of palm tangkos compost and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer had an effect on the percentage of pistils turning into fruit, fruit diameter, fruit weight per plant and level of sweetness. The main effects of palm tangkos compost and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer affect all observation parameters. The best treatment is by giving palm tangkos compost 3 kg/plot. The best treatment is NPK fertilizer 16:16:16 15 g/plant.
