Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction and main effect of rice husk Biochar and Grand-K on the growth and production of shallot plants on peat soil. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City, for three months from October to December 2021. This study used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRD), which consisted of two factors and 3 replications. The first factor was rice husk biochar which consisted of 4 levels namely 0, 93, 187 and 281 grams per polybag and the second factor was the dosage of Grand-K fertilizer which consisted of 4 levels namely 0, 0.94, 1.87 and 2.81 grams per polybag. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, harvesting age, number of tubers per hill, fresh weight of tubers per hill, dry weight of tubers per hill and percentage of tuber weight loss. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of rice husk biochar and Grand-K fertilizer was significant on the number of leaves, harvesting age, number of tubers per hill, fresh weight of tubers per hill, dry weight of tubers per hill and percentage of tuber weight loss. The best treatment was found in a combination of rice husk biochar 281 grams per polybag and Grand-K fertilizer dose of 2.81 grams per polybag. The main effect of rice husk biochar was significant on all observation parameters, the best treatment was at 281 grams per polybag. The main effect of Grand-K fertilizer was significant on all observation parameters. The best treatment was at a dose of 2.81 grams per polybag.
