Abstract

Steam injection is an EOR process applied to heavy oil reservoirs. Steam flooding uses separate injection and production wells to increase the oil recovery factor. The main principle of steam flood is to reduce the viscosity of oil by using steam injected into the reservoir. This study aims to determine the effect of Well Spacing and Steam Quality on the oil recovery factor. Therefore, the proper Well spacing and Steam Quality can be identified to obtain the best recovery factor. This research was conducted in the K field which is located in the Rokan block. The Steam Flood injection pattern that will be used is the normal and 5-point inverted pattern so that there will be 1 Basecase Scenario and 2 Test Scenarios will be carried out from 2020 to 2040. The analysis in this study is to look at cumulative oil production, Steam Oil ratio and recovery factor. Several stages of the research were carried out, namely collecting secondary data obtained in the field, then proceeding with making a model in the CMG 2015 (STARS) simulator software. Well spacing and Steam Quality have a significant effect on steam flood injection performance, based on the results of each steam flood injection scenario by reducing Well Spacing and increasing Steam Quality will increase the oil recovery factor. This can be seen in the inverted 5 spot scenario with 5 acres well spacing and steam quality 90% gives the greatest recovery factor, namely 79.5% with cumulative oil production of 1,402,214.9 bbl/bbl, the smallest CSOR is obtained in the normal pattern of 5 spots with well spacing of 13 acres and steam quality of 90%, namely 3.96 bbl /bbl.
