Abstract
GO-JEK is an online service-based application. One of the services offered by GO-JEK was online motorcycle services. The services that provided require good communication aspects in order to get a positive response from the customers. The communication process that occurs is one of the kind interpersonal communications. The Drivers usually have various ways and strategies to communicate when serving the customers. The purpose of this study was to know and to describe the personal communication between GO-JEK drivers and the customers in Pekanbaru. Personal communication is the process of sending and receiving messages between two people or among a small group of people with some effects and instants feedback. New Media or online media defined as a product of technology mediated communication that is shared with digital computers. The method used in this research was descriptive method. The informants in this study were GO-JEK drivers and the customers who are stay in Pekanbaru. The data obtained through interviews, documentation, and observation. As a source of data in this study was the result of interviewing the author with the GO-JEK drivers and the customers. The results of this study states that the interpersonal communication has been through five characteristic, namely: openness, empathy, support, positiveness, and equality.
