Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between motivation and science learning outcomes for class VIII students of SMPN 8 Pekanbaru in the 2021/2022 academic year. This research is correlation research. The instruments used in data collection are observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. This research was conducted on January 17 to February 26, 2022. The sampling technique in this study used a random sampling technique. The number of samples in this study was 183 students. The questionnaire distributed consisted of 22 statements. The results of this study indicate that between the X variable (Learning Motivation) and Y (Learning Outcomes) there is a high correlation with the correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.793 with the contribution of learning motivation to science learning outcomes of 62.88%. This shows that learning motivation affects learning outcomes by 62.88%. The results of the t-test analysis obtained tcount of 17,511 and ttable of 1,653. So, tcount (17.511) > (1.653) ttable which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that “there is a significant relationship between learning motivation and science learning outcomes for class VIII SMPN 8 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2021/2022
