Abstract
The challenges of the world of education in meeting the needs of the internet generation are quite large. This is due to their different life experiences, especially their experience in using technology. The internet itself provides many technological opportunities in the use of learning media in the classroom. Youtube is one of the learning media that can be used in learning subjects that are considered helpful in the development of student learning. The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions of YouTube as a learning media in English subjects. The results showed that Youtube media can be used as a learning media. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Utama Karya Kampar Kiri Hilir Pekanbaru, Riau Province with a sample of 60 class VIII students. This study uses qualiitative research, and the instrument is a questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 23 questions which are divided into 2 indicators. The results of this study were processed qualitatively using the Likert scale formula. The results of this study indicate that the dominant students agree with 23 statements from 2 indicators about YouTube media. The results showed that the results of the two indicators agreed with the index of 71.6% and 72,6%. Therefore, YouTube is a suitable platform for students in the learning process, especially in learning English.
