Abstract
The researcher was aimed a study on the difficulties encountered by the third semester English students in speaking at English department of FKIP UIR. In this research there were five speaking problem based on my research there were : Fear of mistakes, shyness, anxiety, lack of confidence and lack of motivation. Every each indicator are the problem encountered by the third semester English students at English department of FKIP UIR. The research design of this research was qualitative by using sample one of the class of third semester at English department of FKIP UIR especially 3B and only took 20 students from the class. The instrument that the researcher use on collecting data by questionnaire, after collecting data the researcher found every students difficulties in speaking based on each indicator. The result from this research describe that from 20 students the researcher found out that 45% difficulties encountered by the students in speaking caused by Lack of Motivation, 50% caused by shyness 50% anxiety, 75% Fear of mistakes and the highest score from five indicator is caused by Lack of Confidence about 85%. And the data was conducted on November 2018.
