Abstract

Riau is one area that is influenced by Malay culture. One of the most famous products of Riau Malay culture is Songket Weaving. Songket is the result of Malay craftsmanship by weaving threads interspersed with woven gold or silver threads with various motifs. However, the lack of literacy and interesting promotional media makes songket cloth rarely found, the public does not know information about songket cloth which has various motifs and quality materials. This application aims to introduce and provide information on songket cloth in Riau to the public by utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) as a medium for introducing songket cloth. In AR technology, users can visualize objects in 3 dimensions. This application uses the ARCore SDK library using a 3D view with markerless techniques. Based on the tests conducted on craftsmen, lecturers, the public, and students that this application can display songket objects outside and inside the room provided that it has a light intensity above 0 lux. Based on the results of user testing, the percentage of accuracy is 92% by giving questionnaires to 32 respondents consisting of craftsmen, lecturers, communities and students, so this application can be implemented as a promotional application for songket cloth in Riau using the augmented reality method.
