Abstract

Indonesia is known as one of the countries that has the highest biodiversity in the world including a high level of endemism and its own uniqueness, this makes Indonesia have an important role in protecting Indonesia's biodiversity. However, the destruction of forests causes wild animals to lose their food sources, habitats and home ranges for breeding. Wild animals whose habitat is disturbed explore plantations or human habitation, resulting in a struggle for space or conflict between wild animals and humans which often ends in the death of animals due to forced capture and poisoning. In this study the authors determine the main problem, namely how are the provisions regarding biodiversity reviewed based on the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity? Has Conservation of the Endangered Species Tesso Nilo Been Implemented In Accordance With The Provisions Regulated By The United Nations Convention On Biological Diversity? The method used in this research is observational research, namely by means of a survey. Then this research is descriptive in nature, namely providing a detailed description of the Role of IUCN in the Conservation of the Endangered Species of Tesso Nilo. Based on the results of the research, it is known that the basis for thinking about the conservation of living natural resources and their ecosystems is contained in the World Conservation Strategy launched in 30 countries by IUCN with support from UNEP and WWF. With the main goal of sustainable development, namely: To maintain essential ecological processes and life support systems, to preserve genetic biodiversity and to ensure the sustainable use of species and ecosystems. Which was then poured into Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning the Conservation of Living Natural Resources and their Ecosystems. The Tesso Nilo National Park Authority as the conservation of living natural resources and their ecosystems aims to strive for the realization of the preservation of living natural resources and the balance of their ecosystems so that they can better support efforts to improve people's welfare and the quality of human life which have started to operate since the issuance of Minister of Forestry Decree 255/Menhut-II /2004 dated July 19, 2004 concerning Changes in the Function of Part of the Limited Production Forest in the Tesso Nilo Forest group, located in Pelalawan and Indragiri Hulu Regencies, Riau province, the area of the Tesso Nilo National Park Hall in the Decree of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number: SK.6588/Menhut -VII/KUH/2014 dated 28 October 2014 concerning the Determination of the Tesso Nilo National Park Detention Area with an area of ±81,793.00 hectares in Pelalawan Regency and Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province.
