Abstract

Academic achievement is a learning outcome obtained from learning activities that are cognitive in nature and usually determined by measurement and assessment. This study aims to investigate the comparison of academic achievement between male and female students at the Islamic education study program (PAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in academic year 2021 (Gender Comparative Study). This is a comparative quantitative study, this study discusses about the comparison of academic achievement. The problem formulation of the study is whether there is a comparison of the academic achievement of grade point average (GPA) between male and female students (Gender) at Islamic education study program (PAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in academic year 2021. The subject of the study are all male and female students at Islamic education study program (PAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in academic year 2021. The population of the study is the students of Islamic education study program (PAI) in academic year 2021. The sampling technique of the study is a saturated sample with 58 male students and 77 female students, so the total sample is 135 students. The results of the study show that the average academic achievement of male students is 3.7157 and female students is 3.7912. The results of the hypothesis test obtained that the Z count (2.954) > Z table (1.96) or significance (0.003) < alpha ( 0.05). It means that there is a significant difference in academic achievement between male and female students. The academic achievements of female students are higher than male students at the Islamic education study program (PAI) Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in acedemic year 2021.
