Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop and find out the validity of big book media in reading learning at the beginning of grade 1 elementary school. This research method uses development research with the ADDIE development model. This research was conducted in three stages, namely 1) the analysis stage consisted of teacher analysis, student analysis and analysis of learning materials; 2) the design stage is the design of the big book media by preparing drawing tools such as pencils, erasers, color sipidols, rulers, glue, scissors, brushes. Then draw manually; 3) the development stage includes the product validation stage. While the subjects in this study were 1 teacher, 2 students and 2 design experts, 2 material experts, and 2 linguists. The instruments used are validation sheets and interview sheets and the data analysis techniques used are quantitative and qualitative. The results of the study obtained were a big book media on the theme of 11 subtheme 1 for grade 1 elementary school students which is feasible to use based on the assessment of design experts with a percentage of 93,8% with valid creteria, 94,4% linguists with valid creteria and material experts with a percentage of 86.3% with very valid creteria. The average percentage of validation results was 91,5% with a very valid category without revision.
