Abstract

There is a transfer of conventional face-to-face learning directly in the classroom to online learning carried out through the internet network. This is a challenge for online learning as a virtual meeting medium in English Language Learning. Online learning faces various problems for teaching students in online classes, such as lack of mastery of English learning materials, unmotivated student participation, and students who lack online learning experience. This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of using online learning as a virtual meeting media in English language learning The methodology of this research is qualitative descriptive research. The research used an online questionnaire. The participants of this study consist of 33 students of class 8C year IV English study program at FKIP-UIR PEKANBARU". After collecting the data, it is analyzed using scale assessment. The result of the indicator learning management and implementation indicator is 68% with a good interval position. Indicator of communicative teaching and learning process with the average of 67% and good interval. Then the student response indicator is 67% with interval good. Then the indicator of learning activity with a low position averages 66% with a good interval. And last is the indicator of learning outcomes with the interpretation of interval good, with an average of 67%. The results showed that the use of Online learning as a Virtual Meeting medium in English language learning was effectively used by fourth-year students in the English Study Program at FKIP-UIR PEKANBARU.
