Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of the Minangkabau Plate Dance at the Makmur Art Production Dance Studio, Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency. This study uses Dance Theory by Soedarsono (1985:23) in Ika Tri Wahyuni (2012), namely: dance moves, floor design, make-up and clothing, dynamics, music or accompaniment, and props or props. This research method uses descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. The results of this study are: 1) find out the formulation of the problem, namely how the Minangkabau Plate Dance Forms in the Makmur Art Production Dance Studio, Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency. This dance is a traditional dance of West Sumatra which has developed widely to foreign countries. The Minangkabau Plate Dance depicts the atmosphere of joy when the local people get an abundant harvest. The research subject was Anggun Mutia Sari as the leader of the Makmur Art Production Dance Studio. The object of this research is the movement of the Minangkabau Plate Dance. Data collection techniques were carried out by (1) observation, (2) interviews, (3) documentation. The results of this study were to find out the elements of the Minangkabau Plate Dance at the Makmur Art Production Dance Studio in Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency. The dance elements studied are the forms of motion, dynamics, floor patterns, music, costumes, make-up, and properties. All elements that are part of the Minangkabau plate dance will be discussed one by one.
