Abstract

This study aims to find out about improving learning in volleyball underhand serve through playing catch and throw at SMPN 1 Pekanbaru. As for this type of research, there were 22 students in class VIII A of SMPN 1 Pekanbaru. Initial data from the first cycle of the volleyball underserving test by playing catch and throwing showed that only 65% of students achieved the KKM, namely students who completed 13 students and 35%, namely students who did not complete 9 students. In the second cycle, the volleyball underserving test by playing catch and throwing experienced an increase of 85% as many as 16 students who completed KKM and 15%, namely students who did not complete as many as 6 students. From the results of this study obtained in cycle I and cycle II, it can be concluded that the game of volleyball through playing catch and throw is very appropriate and successfully used to improve the underhand serve of class VIII A students of SMPN 1 Pekanbaru.
