Abstract

In vertical drilling, the weight/pressure provided by the bit equipment is a big key to speed up drilling activities. However, in certain cases only using WOB cannot be done in drilling activities. Therefore, it is necessary to use additional tools such as a mud motor in the drilling activity. A mud motor (or drilling motor) is a Progressive Cavity Positive Displacement (PCPD) pump that is placed in the drill string to provide additional power to the drill bit while drilling. PCPD pumps use drilling fluid (referred to as drilling mud, or simply mud) to create an eccentric motion in the motor power section which is transferred as concentric power to the drill bit. The design results from the use of a mud motor in vertical well drilling in field X the use of a mud motor can shorten the cumulative time for drilling activities in the well. Where, when we use full mud motor, we can decrease the cumulative time until 1,31 days. This is because of the results that show the excavation of the first section of the mud motor can reduce drilling time up to 0,3 days from the time required for vertical drilling without a mud motor. Meanwhile, in the second section excavation, the use of a mud motor can reduce the time of up to 0,8 days from vertical drilling without a mud motor.
