Abstract

Liquefaction or soil liquefaction is a soil phenomenon that loses strength due to vibrations which result in increased water pressure and weakens the bearing capacity of the soil. Liquefaction tends to occur in fine-grained soils that contain sand and lots of water. The potential for liquefaction needs to be taken into account for construction planners to ensure that the building to be built is safe from liquefaction, therefore based on SPT data it is calculated and analyzed in order to determine the potential for liquefaction in the area around the Selensen - Kota Baru - Bagan Jaya road section, Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir. The position around the Selensen - Kota Baru - Bagan Jaya road section, Indragiri Hilir Regency which is on the banks of the Enok River and the Gergaji River, there are many crossing bridges along the river, so research is needed on the potential for liquefaction for this area. This research is an applied research with the aim of testing and analyzing the potential for liquefaction for the Selensen - Kota Baru - Bagan Jaya section of the Indragiri Hilir Regency which is located between 103°10'25” - 103°8'13” North Latitude and 0°19'53 ” - 0°24'23” East Longitude. This study took 7points offield soil investigation using SPT (Standard Penetration Test) data which was then calculated and analyzed based on liquefaction parameters so that it could provide an overview of the potential for liquefaction or not. Based on the results of LPI calculations and the classification of the liquefaction probability for the magnitude 6.8 earthquake, liquefaction did not occur and for the magnitude 7.8 SR earthquake within a 400 KM radius from around Jalan Selensen - Kota Baru - Bagan Jaya, Indragiri Hilir Regency, it can be concluded that the probability of this happening is possible liquefaction with low category.
