Abstract

The process of hijrah is full of challenges causes Muslims hijrah to experience poor subjective well-being. One of the factors that is assumed to influence subjective well being is religious struggle. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of religious struggle on subjective well-being among Muslims hijrah to Pekanbaru. The research subjects totaled 323 people. The sampling technique used is snowball sampling. The data collection method uses a scale of religious and spiritual struggle totaling 26 items to measure religious struggle. Subjective well being is measured using two scales, namely the satisfaction with life scale with 5 items and the positive and negative affect scale with 20 items. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) with smartPLS 3.0 M3 software. The results of this study show that religious struggle has a negative and significant effect on subjective well-being with a path coefficient value of -0.564, a p value of 0.000 <0.05 and a calculated t value of 11,969 and R 2 value of 0,318. This means that the higher the level of religious struggle, the lower the subjective well being of Muslims hijrah to Pekanbaru.
