Abstract

This study discusses official letters. Letters are a means of written communication to convey information, statements, or messages to other parties who have the need for activities in a certain form. The title of the research is "Ability to Identify Elements of a Class VII Student Service Letter at YLPI Marpoyan Junior High School, Pekanbaru City". Problem formulation: How is the student's ability to identify the elements of an official letter for class VII students of SMP YLPI Marpoyan Pekanbaru City. The purpose of collecting data and information about students' ability to identify the elements of official letter for class VII students of SMP YLPI Marpoyan Pekanbaru City. Descriptive research method with a quantitative approach based on the location of data collection in SMP YLPI Marpoyan Pekanbaru City This research belongs to the type of field research. The theory used in the research is the definition of identification, the meaning of the letter, the meaning of the official letter, the elements of the official letter, the function of the letter, the correct and good letter syrat, the language of the letter, the characteristics of the official letter, the form of the official letter and the part of the official letter. The data sources of this research are YLPI Marpoyan Junior High School students, Pekanbaru City. Data collection techniques used are observation techniques, test techniques and documentation. The data analysis technique is about the students' ability to identify the elements of the seventh grade official letter at YLPI Marpoyan Middle School, Pekanbaru City. The elements of an official letter are: letter head, letter number, letter date, letter attachment, letter subject, letter address, letter opening greeting, letter content, letter closing greeting, letter ransom. Class VII-1 students are categorized as getting very good scores, it can be seen from the classification of students' assessment scores who get 85-100 are categorized as very good. The ability to identify elements of official letter for class VII-1 students at YLPI Junior High School is by getting a total score of 1,880 with a value of 94.0 obtaining a percentage of 94%. In the Indonesian language lesson, there are 80 KKM. The conclusion of the research is the ability to identify elements of official letters at the YLPI Junior High School level in Pekanbaru City for the 2021 Academic Year is in the very good category.
