Abstract

Today's technological sophistication can be easily accessed by anyone from various walks of life. Social media has now become a person's new lifestyle in interacting online with various people around the world. The use of social media is often misused by irresponsible parties or persons for material gain. One of the misuses of social media is the spread of pornographic content in a way that threatens the victim or sextortion. Sextoration is a form of online gender-based violence that is carried out by extorting the victim by using pornographic photos or videos belonging to the victim, obtained either by hacking, or given directly by the victim on the basis of trust in a relationship. In this sextortion case, the author conducted research on two male victims with the initials SS and WR who experienced sextortion cases on Facebook social media. the victim has been tricked into doing Video Call Sexs, in which photos and videos have been recorded by the perpetrator and the second perpetrator threatens to share them. In this study, the authors used qualitative research methods by conducting interviews with two victims with the initials SS and WR, as well as related experts. From these cases the researcher tries to analyze and examine cases of sextortion in the theory of victimization and victimization, and will discuss with the ITE Law.
