Abstract
The Province of Rokan Hulu is a Regency that rich in biodiversity. Rokan Hulu is an area that has a long list of protected wildlife that is threatened with extinction. Protected wildlife is all animals that live on land, in the air and in the air, both living freely and being cared by humans. The Extinction of the protected wildlife happens because of habitat loss and destruction as well as illegal hunting and trading of animals and those traded in the Black Market. The purpose of this study was to find out what are the factors of the illegal hunting on protected animals, especially in Cipang Kanan Village, Rokan IV Koto. This study uses a phenomenological approach and uses qualitative descriptive research. The results of this study are economic factors, lack of education factors and also the opportunity factor are the background of the phenomenon of illegal hunting on protected animals.
