Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out about gebane music performances. Performing arts are works of art that involve individual or group actions at a certain place and time. The performing arts referred to here are performing arts that are conceptualized as a single performance unit that has a specific theme and purpose. Either for the benefit of the public or for yourself. Types of performing arts usually include: music, dance, drama (Sedyawati, (2002: 8). The research method is basically a scientific way to obtain data with specific goals and uses. The purpose of the scientific method is that research activities are standardized on scientific characteristics, namely rational, systematic and empirical This research was conducted in Pekan Heran Village and used descriptive analysis research using qualitative methods Data collection techniques used observation, interview and documentation techniques This research used data analysis techniques namely data reduction , presenting data, and drawing conclusions/verification.Based on the results of the research, it shows that the Gebane performance, namely as the opening of a wedding ceremony in an event, is believed to give wisdom to the bride and groom and can also be used for circumcision events, as well as in welcoming guests. Musical instruments used in music this gebane is berb Get a bigger drum. And in this performance, the gebane music players follow the notes correctly.
