Abstract

The Alkaline-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) method is considered a method that promising for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) since 1990. Mechanism ASP injection is modified to reduce Interfacial Tension (IFT) between fluids and change rock wettability to a more water-wet state. The ASP method involves the injection of a surfactant, alkali, and polymer solution into a reservoir. The effectiveness of Low Salinity Water Injection (LSWI) in increasing oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs has been proven by many laboratory studies. However, although almost 60% of the world's total oil reserves are accumulated in carbonate rocks, currently there is only 1 report on the implementation of LSWI that has been carried out in the carbonate field. Therefore, in this study, a sensitivity study of LSWI operating parameters was conducted which is expected contribute to the efficiency and optimization of LSWI implementation on ASP synergies in carbonate rocks to increasing cumulative oil production and therefore a simulation study was conducted to determine its effect with the use of artificial models (reservoir simulation). The results of this experiment indicate that the effect of the concentration of salinity and alkali is very influential in increasing the cumulative oil production value. it can be seen from scenario 10 that the highest increase in the value of its cumulative production oil is as in Figure 4.10 which shows that at a salinity concentration of 2000 ppm and 0.5 wt% alkali gives a greater recovery factor of 23.5% from OOIP than in other scenarios.
