Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of water immersion of jackfruit seeds with various planting positions on the growth of seedling germination. The experimental design used in this study was a Factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the soaking time (L) which consists of 4 levels: 0, 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours and the second factor is the position of planting seeds (P) which consists of 4 levels: inclined, upright, prone, supine. Parameters observed were percentage germination, seed vigor, germination time, shoot height, plant height, number of leaves, root volume and damaged sprouts. The results showed that the duration of water immersion in jackfruit seeds and various seed planting positions gave a real response to all observation parameters. The best treatment was found in the water immersion time on the jackfruit seeds for 12 hours and the prone position of planting the seeds. The main effect of water immersion time on jackfruit seeds gave a real response to all observation parameters.
