Abstract

Many areas in Riau province have peatland. Peatland is soft land, so it needs improvement to achieve California Bearing Ratio. One of the land improvement method is stabilization by chemical, it means land improvement by adding a stabilization ingredient (chemical) that have special trait that csn get more stabke land structure. Goals of this reseach is to know effect of adding calcium 10% and phosphoric acid (H3PO4) 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% to value of CBR. This reseach was did in laboratory, with reseach method which is include soil physical properties and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) with the additional variation of calcium 10% and phosporic acid 3%,6%,9% and 12% with preservation duration was 1 day and 4 days as well as the submergence 1 day and 4 days. Resultof the reseach is peatland has density 1,53, moisture content 351,1%. Optimum moisture content (OMC) is 132% and maximum dry density (mdd) value is 0,4 gr/cm³. Cbr of peatland biggest value is preservation time 4 days 1,07%. After stabilization with calcium and phosporic acid the biggest value of cbr is variation in adding calcium 10% and phosporic acid 3% with time of preservation 1 day 1,62%. Based of the reseach that has done can conclude that calcium and phosporic acid (H3P04) cannot use adding ingredients to improvement peatland. Because value of cbr has not achive the rule.
