Abstract

PulauTinggi Village is one of the lowland rice producing villages in Kampar Regency. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of farmers and lowland rice farming profiles, lowland rice farming techniques, production and also farm income and farm efficiency. This study used a survey method that was conducted in May 2020 to October 2020. The data analysis used qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. Sampling was done by random sampling of 30 farmers. The results showed the characteristics of lowland rice farmers, the average age of farmers was 53 years, the average farming experience was 22 years, the average number of dependents of farmers was 2 people and the farmer's education level was 10 years. The profile of lowland rice farming, the average land area is 4,750 hectares, with the average land ownership status belonging to the farmers themselves. The lowland rice cultivation technique in PulauTinggi Village is still the same as in general, it's just that the farmers do the planting by means of a calendar, then water it when the paddy fields are 3 or 4 months old. The harvesting process uses a sickle and rice milling using a Rice Milling Unit (RMU) rice mill machine. The use of production factors in lowland rice farming such as land area with an average land area of 4,750 M2, the average use of seeds by farmers is 21.21 kg / Garapan at a price of Rp. 10,500 / Kg. in their farming, farmers use chemical fertilizers which include urea, TSP, KCl and NPK, ash, salt and liquid organic fertilizers. In addition, farmers use Round-up, Decis, Lindamin and Gramoxone pesticides. The total cost of lowland rice farming is Rp. 4,527,820 / Garapan / Mt with a gross income of Rp. 16,776,666 and net income of Rp. 13,960,894. The value of farming efficiency or RCR is 3.79 which means that the farming carried out by lowland rice farmers in PulauTinggi Village is profitable and feasible to develop.
