Abstract

This study uses the uses and gratification theory which aims to determine the effect of the use of the PLN Mobile Application on the Fulfillment of Information Needs for Public Services at PT. PLN UP3 Pekanbaru City. The population of this research is the people of Pekanbaru City who use the PLN Mobile Application as many as 52,062 users, the research sample is 100 people, the sample is taken using random sampling technique. The method in this study uses survey methods and questionnaire data collection techniques and simple regression analysis. The results showed that the use of the PLN Mobile Application had the highest score on the Attention indicator of 3.47 in the very good category. Fulfillment of information needs which has the highest score on the current need approach indicator of 4.26 in the very good category. After processing the data and producing a value of 0.382 which indicates a positive r value. The percentage of the influence of using the PLN mobile application on the fulfillment of information needs is 14.6% and the remaining 85.4% is influenced by factors not examined in this study. In testing the hypothesis, it was found that the use of the PLN mobile application had a significant effect on meeting information needs.
