Abstract

This paper discusses the findings of the strvey study among primary school students in Malaysia. This study investigated the level of knowledge and awareness of primary students on the issues related to human babitat and the environment based on qualitative items of questionnaire regrding to their interest, cmcem and opinion. Conclusions that cm be drawn based on this study are: the students will show interest ifthey are ofte,n exposed to a relevant issues inchriling d school" their home and other places they visitd. Howwer, 69 students at this age level, despite showing m interest on the relevaat issues, also potentially become bored and not sensitive to such things, if the knowledge on the issues is always conveyed rtsing the same method. Therefore, a creative teaching and learning approach is required to promote students' interest to learn more about the human habitat md the enviroment as well as to produce students with imaginative md innovative thinking
