Abstract

Competency Level of Narrow Vegetable Farmers Agribusiness in Maharatu Village, Marpoyan Damai District. Guidance of Mr. Dr. Ir. Saipul Bahri, M.Ec. Agribusiness competence is a person's ability to think, behave and act in planning a farm to make a profit. Therefore, the level of agribusiness competence of vegetable farmers with narrow land in leaf vegetable farming is very important for farmers to manage their business strategies. This study aims to analyze; (1) Characteristics of farmers and the profile of small land vegetables; (2) Competence level of vegetable farmers agribusiness with narrow land; (3) Factors related to vegetable farmer agribusiness competence. The research was conducted in Maharatu Village, Marpoyan Damai District, and was carried out for 6 months from February to July 2020. This research was conducted using a survey method, the sampling method was purposive sampling, and the sample was taken as many as 33 people. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively using Pearson Correlation analysis (Product Moment). The results showed that the average age of farmers was 44 years or productive age, the average education level of elementary school farmers (5 years), the number of dependents of the farmer's family averaged 3 people, the average length of farming vegetables was 10 years, the average farmer's land area -a 0.42 Ha, the status of the land is generally not owned by themselves, and commodities are planted with leaf vegetables, such as spinach and kale. Overall, the level of competence in the agribusiness of vegetable farmers with narrow land is moderate. Based on the Pearson Correlation (Product Moment) analysis, it shows that the factors that have a positive and very real correlation with the agribusiness competence of vegetable farmers are knowledge, attitudes and skills.
