Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the role of local government in controlling the environment of unlicensed gold mining (PETI) in the Kuantan Mudik District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The indicators used in this research are: rules, structure, and individuals. This research took place in Saik Village, Kuantan Mudik District by using qualitative research type with descriptive survey method, namely by conducting direct interviews in the field and observations at the research location to analyze the empirical conditions that occurred. The key informants in this study were the Head of the Environmental Agency of the Kuantan Singingi Regency, and the informants consisted of the Head of Environmental Pollution Section, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kuantan Mudik Police, Gold Miners, Head of Saik Village,and 2 community members. Data collection techniques through research tools in the form of interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the role of the Regional Government in controlling the environment of Gold Mining Without Permits (PETI) in Kuantan Mudik District, Kuantan Singingi Regency has been running quite well. This has been assessed through dimensions and indicators, namely rules, structures, and individuals
