Abstract

Foam mortar is a type of lightweight concrete obtained by inserting air bubbles into the mortar mix. Utilization of palm fiber ash is expected to be a substitute for cement in making foam mortar which is more economical than foam mortar without other substitutes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding palm fiber ash as a partial replacement of cement to the compressive strength of mortar and to determine the compressive strength of foam mortar with the use of palm fiber ash. The research method used is a type of trial and error method and this research is based on the PUPR Circular Number: 44/SE/M/2015. The specimens were made using a cylindrical mold with a height of 20 cm and a width of 10 cm which were tested at the age of 7, 14, and 21 days. This research was examined at the PT. Indokomp Core and Islamic University of RIAU Laboratory. The results showed that the use of various variations of palm fiber ash as a partial replacement of cement gave several effects, among others, at a percentage variation of 10% it produced foam mortar with the lightest weight of the mixture, and the higher the percentage variation of palm fiber ash added, the higher it was. weight of the foam mortar mix. Variations in the percentage of palm fiber ash also affect the average compressive strength of the foam mortar. Based on the results of the study, the highest average compressive strength of foam mortar was obtained at a percentage of 15% from the age of 7 days and continued to increase at the age of 14 days and 21 days, at this 15% percentage it met the specified specifications.
