Abstract

Improving the transportation system requires comprehensive handling, considering that transportation arises because of the movement of people and goods, the increased movement is required to provide facilities to support the rate of movement of people and goods that meet the safety requirements for pedestrians where pedestrians are one the most important traffic components. This study aims to evaluate recommendations for selecting a level crossing facility, evaluate the effectiveness of using JPO based on the volume of pedestrians and determine the effect of pedestrians without going through the JPO facility on traffic flow of Tuanku Tambusai Street, Pekanbaru. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Literature study and field observations. The criteria for selecting the sample are the use of pedestrian bridges on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai Pekanbaru. Based on the sampling criteria, the number of samples used in this study were 100 respondents. The results of the research on the observation point of JPO Indomaret Nangka 12 (Plaza Citra) obtained an average PV2 value of 3.39 x 107 and 2.44 x 107 for JPO around the Toko Bangunan Daya Bersama. At the location of JPO Indomaret Nangka 12 (Plaza Citra), the percentage of bridge users is 68.28% and 31.72% who do not use bridges. Observation points around the Toko Bangunan Daya Bersama, the percentage of bridge users is 67.87% and 32.13% who do not use bridges. The results of the analysis of the relationship between the percentage of pedestrians (Non-Bridge) and the volume of vehicles found there was no significant relationship from the value (sig) of 0.411 JPO Indomaret Nangka 12 (Plaza Citra) and 0.902 for JPO around the Toko Bangunan Daya Bersama. It can be concluded from the value of PV2 JPO around on Tuanku Tambusai Street, Pekanbaru according to the initial recommendation that there is no need for crossings. From the percentage value of JPO usage in two JPO locations located on Tuanku Tambusai Street Pekanbaru is categorized as effective and there is no effect of vehicle volume (X) on pedestrians (Non Bridge) (Y). It is recommended that further researchers be able to add more variables, so that similar research can be more accurate and effective.
