Abstract

The increase in water production is a problem that often occurs in oil producing wells. This is because the well has been producing for a long time or there is damage that occurs in the formation of the production well. Water shut off (WSO) is one of the workover which aims to minimize the amount of water produced from a production well by closing the zone that is considered no longer productive (water zone). ABC field has a high water cut value which is close to 100% water cut. However, these wells are still being produced because they are still of economic value, and have not yet reached the point of economic limit. In an effort to reduce water production and increase oil production, the wells in the ABC field will be carried out water shut off work to inhibit water production. Then the results of the water shut off work will be analyzed using the single correlation method. The purpose of this study is to see the relationship between the selection parameters and the high water cut which is used as a selection criterion in selecting candidate wells to be water shut off with the results of the water shut off work in increasing oil production and reducing water production based on single correlation analysis. The results of the single correlation analysis show that there is a close relationship between the decline rate of production and water production which affects the performance of the water shut off work, namely the increase in oil gain and water reduction. Meanwhile, there is a very weak relationship (no relationship) between water cut and water shut off work performance. Meanwhile, the results of economic analysis based on cost benefit analysis (CBA) show that from a sample of 100 wells with water shut off work, the success ratio for feasible or economical water shut off work is 54%, while 46% is classified as uneconomical.
