Abstract

This study aims to find out how the opinion of Riau Islamic University Law Students on the Application of Chemical Castration Law in Indonesia (PP no. 70 of 2020). The theory used is Cutlip and Center & Broom which explains opinion is a statement about attitudes about certain controversial issues. This study uses a qualitative method with the subject of 4 law school students at the Islamic University of Riau who have qualifications according to the data needed in this study, the research data according to its type, namely primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. . This research follows an opinion-forming process, namely the determining factor based on the news that develops in society and then perception. From the process of forming this opinion, it can also be seen the forms of verbal and nonverbal communication used. the application of chemical castration law for perpetrators of sexual violence which is the highest law other than the death penalty. The results of this study indicate that the opinion about the application of chemical castration is inappropriate or inappropriate to be applied in Indonesia, because it violates the existing human rights rules for every human being
