Abstract

Radio is one of the communication tools that has been around for a long time and is the delivery of accurate messages. A broadcast media must know who the target market is and through what means to communicate about the broadcast media. If one determines the strategy, then the target goal will not be achieved. RRI is the only radio that bears the name of the country which it broadcasts for the benefit of the nation and state. The magnitude of the tasks and functions of RRI given by the state through Law NO 32 of 2002 concerning broadcasting. This study discusses the communication strategy that focuses on the communication strategy of RRI Pekanbaru Radio broadcast pro 2 in increasing the number of listeners. In this study using a qualitative approach with the method of interview, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the communication strategy used by the Broadcast Pro 2 Program was promotion through social media such as Instagram and Facebook as well as the Youtube channel. In practice, the effort made is to evaluate the program and adjust it to the tastes of listeners who are aged 13-25 years. Introducing RRI directly to the community through the RRI Goes to school or RRI Goes to campus program.
