The type of this research is correlation, this research was conducted on class XI students at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru totaling 107, starting on 22 to 24 October 2018. Techniques for collecting data using questionnaires and documentation. The data obtained from the role of the highest indicator teacher is the transmitter 76.6% of the high category and the lowest indicator that is the director of 51.55% medium category. So the average of teacher roles is 64.01% of the moderate category. While the data obtained by students the highest indicator is the social motive factor of 53.65% low category and the lowest indicator that is emotional factor 45.84% low category. So the average of student interest is 48.83% low category. The results of the correlation coefficient analysis between teacher role variables with student interest are r = 0.277 with sig (p) = 0.004 and t count 2,955. The index r of the teacher's role as a result of the calculation is interpreted against the probability value or sig of p = 0.004. The probability value is smaller than a (5%).
