Abstract

This study aims to determine the teacher's role in motivating student learning in elementary school thematic learning. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques and instruments are interviews, observation and documentation. Testing the validity of the data using source triangulation, time triangulation and technical triangulation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The conclusion of this study is that there are several teacher roles in motivating student learning in class IV SDN 007 Kelayang, namely the learning environment in class IV is still not comfortable because this class is still narrow and the facilities in this class are also inadequate. But the fourth grade teacher always tries to keep the class comfortable even with the small class conditions. The learning method used by the teacher is always changing, this is done so that students do not get bored quickly. The learning method used during the learning process is in accordance with the thematic learning implementation plan (RPP). The use of learning media that is often used is audiovisual media. Awards while learning by teachers so that students can be motivated in the teaching and learning process. Ways to give rewards while studying can be in the form of giving praise, giving grades, and prizes. Giving punishment to students is one way that teachers can do to motivate student learning. The obstacles faced by teachers in motivating student learning in class IV are limited suggestions and infrastructure at the school so that teachers will find it very difficult to use learning media in class. Even for classrooms, it is still lacking so there must be some classes that have insulation.
