Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the strategy of monitoring BBPOM Pekanbaru against the distribution of traditional medicines containing dangerous medicinal chemicals (BKO); as well as what are the inhibiting factors faced by BBPOM Pekanbaru City in monitoring the distribution of these Traditional Medicines. The research was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Collecting data using interview techniques, observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative way. The results of this study concluded that the strategy of monitoring BBPOM Pekanbaru City on the distribution of traditional medicines containing medicinal chemicals (BKO) includes primary prevention, secondary prevention, and tertiary prevention. Primary prevention is carried out through socialization, monitoring drug distribution, and establishing cooperation with related agencies. Secondary prevention is carried out by conducting investigation operations and arresting criminals of trafficking of traditional medicines containing medicinal chemicals (BKO). Meanwhile, tertiary prevention is carried out by imposing sanctions on the criminals for the distribution of traditional medicines containing medicinal chemicals (BKO). The inhibiting factors faced by BBPOM Pekanbaru City in overcoming the circulation of traditional medicines containing medicinal chemicals (BKO) are: lack of personnel availability, lack of availability of supporting facilities and infrastructure, lack of public understanding of the impact and dangers of consuming traditional medicines containing medicinal chemicals, and low awareness of traditional medicine entrepreneurs in complying with the prevailing rules and regulations
