Abstract

The Effect of Using Various Growing Media and Pineapple Skin Compost on the Growth and Yield of Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia) Plants. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution Km 11, No. 113, Air Dingin Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The research was conducted for 5 months, starting from February to June 2020. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of various growth media and pineapple peel compost on the growth and yield of Dayak onion plants both in interaction and mainly. The design used was a completely randomized design consisting of 2 factors, the growth medium, namely peat, PMK, peat + PMK 1: 1, peat + PMK 2: 1 and pineapple peel compost, namely 0, 45, 90, 135 g / polybag consisting of 4 levels , so there are 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications, so there are 48 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 plants and 2 of them were sampled for a total of 192 plants. Parameters observed were plant height, tuber number per clump, tuber wet weight per clump, tuber dry weight per hill, tuber loss percentage, and harvest index. The results of the observations were statistically analyzed and tested by BNJ at the 5% level. The results of the study in the interaction of growth media and pineapple peel compost were significant on plant height, number of tubers per clump, tuber wet weight per clump, tuber dry weight per hill, tuber loss percentage, and harvest index. The best treatment was a combination of peat growing media + PMK 1: 1 and pineapple peel compost 135 g / polybag (M3K3). The main influence of the media grew significantly on all parameters of the observation. The best treatment is peat growing media + PMK 1: 1 (M3). The main effect of pineapple peel compost was significant on all observed parameters. The best treatment is pineapple peel compost with a dose of 135 g / polybag (K3).
