Abstract

Children are the future of the nation, the next generation of the nation's ideals, so they have the right to live, grow, develop, participate, and protect themselves from acts of violence, coercion, and discrimination. In Indonesia, it can be said that cases of human rights violations against children are quite disturbing, including the exploitation of children. This is still happening in the city of Pekanbaru. Cases of this exploitation include direct work by their parents. The formulation of the problem in this study is what factors are parents exploiting their children to support the family's economic needs at the red light of SKA Mall Pekanbaru City. This type of research is qualitative which aims to describe the actual situation of what has happened at the research location by collecting, identifying and analyzing data to obtain answers to the formulated problems. Informants and key informants in this study were the Head of the Social Service Unit, Satpol PP, perpetrators of child exploitation, victims and street vendors in the Ska Mall environment. The results of the interview the authors get are exploitation carried out by the perpetrators because of economic factors such as basic needs, electrical installations and where they also have the right to regulate the survival of children. In minimizing this case, the community is expected to be sensitive to the existing problems and firmness from the government in handling or overcoming this case so that more children are not exploited by their parents.
