Abstract

Directive and expressive speech acts are very often used in daily language activities. This study aims: (1) To collect data and explain clearly the form of directive speech acts contained in this research data. (2) To collect data and explain clearly about the expressive speech acts contained in this research data. (3) To describe, analyze, identify the way in which the directive speech acts are expressed in the literal and non-literal speech contained in this research data. (4) To describe, analyze, identify ways of expressing expressive speech acts in the speech literal and non-literal speech contained in this research data. Theories used: speech acts by Rahardi (2009: 17) and literal and nonliteral Wijana and Rohmadi (2011: 30). The data in this study were 138 directive and expressive utterances both literal and non-literal. This type of research used in this research is documentation or library research. The method in this research is descriptive. While the approach in this research is qualitative research. The technique in this study is refer to the note and note technique. The results of this study are from 128 utterances identified as directive speech acts, 55 expressive utterances. Research on how to disclose the form of directive speech acts on literal speech there are 123 utterances and on nonliteral speech there are 5 utterances. Research on how to express expressive speech acts in literal speech has 54 speeches and in non-literal speech there are 1 speeches, the results of this study are in accordance with the basis of this study.
