Abstract

Waste management is the collection, transportation, processing, recycling or disposal of waste materials. Waste must be managed properly so that problems do not arise that have an impact on the environment and health. Therefore, waste management activities must be carried out so that the desired problems do not occur. Judging from the Regional Regulation of Karimun Regency No.1 of 2005 concerning Parks management and Cleanliness, cleanliness is one of the lives that humans covet and needs to be maintained and found in nature and arounds us. The location of this research was carrier out in Tanjung Balai Karimun. This is the responsibility of the Tanjung Balai Karimun Environmental Service. The purpose of this study was to determine the solid waste management bt the Tanjung Balai Karimun government and to determine the inhibiting factors in waste management. This research method is descriptive qualitative, namely to investigate objects that cannot be measured using numbers because the aim is to reveal events or facts, circumstances and phenomena when the research takes place. The indicators that are measured in this research are Planning, Organizing, Implementation and Monitoring. The results of this study indicate that the waste management carried out by the Tanjung Balai Karimun Environmental Service has not been effective. Due to the uneven distribution of socialization by the government regarding waste management. The thing that needs to be improved is that it is expected that the local government will provide an adequate budget for the implementation of waste management activities and provide good and sufficient facilities and infrastructure.
